hot creations revive chicago’s ghetto house scene with pioneer dj funk and german producer rydim who deliver the pumping “ghetto booty”. a fitting addition to the release, miami’s jesse perez is on hand with solid remix.
the title track is a real throwback to the era of ghetto house with it’s straight up, stripped beats. rydim explains “this project is a dream for me! dj funk has always been my greatest hero in all things chicago. doing “ghetto booty” with charles was such a fantastic opportunity to bring all these energetic, uptempo chicago vibes to today’s dancefloors. it’s a bouncing, killer of a track! the other “easy as that” is more of a dj tool. it’s the result of my latest drum computer, swinging like only these little machines can.”

native new yorker son of sound aka henry maldonado returns to delusions of grandeur with another fine ep including two floor-friendly originals plus a stripped back remix from aroop roy. for those too young to have been buying records in the early 90’s henry was a key figure, involved in seminal releases on strictly rhythm as house 2 house, maxi records as deja vu and maw records as rhythm section. to say this guy has history is something of an understatement having made an important contribution to the first wave of deep house with productions dating right back to ’91. more recently he has created magic for jus ed’s underground quality, classic, razor n tape and local talk as well as establishing his own district30 imprint.

limited to 300 copies. rising talent aleks joins jeremiah r, hvl, dj guy and mnlth in the organic analogue realm of spiritual sonic exploration. the amsterdam-based producer has already made a name for himself in the past few years with his penchant for sci-fi imagery and impeccable hardware jams, hence he feels like a natural fit for oa. this double lp release provides the chance to hear some of the breadth in aleks productions, from ambient submersions to detroitian techno and sharp edged 303 resonance that skirts the divide between jacking club material and emotional content.

i made music together with lee for years (alongside mick rolfe) as last waltz. he also worked as lizards with james hadfield (james released solo for me me me 02), oli worriner, is a talented young northerner who’s already making a great name for his solo output, both under his own name and his traela alias, as well his label “tunnyl recordings”.
i’m really flattered that they’ve let me release their first full solo release, and i love how they’ve brought out each others deeper and more emotive sides in these 2 tracks. shit robot is a hero of mine. i basically wore out the grooves on a bunch of his dfa stuff from just over 10 years ago, and i’ve avidly bought everything he’s released since. i met him this summer for the first time when we shared the bill at a festival, and was so happy to find that he’s also lovely guy in real life. they say you should never meet your heroes, but i don’t subscribe to that as this meeting led to not one, but two fantastic remixes for me me me 08. the originals are a bright mix of melodically analogue left leaning house, while the remixes zero-in on a punchier dancefloor vibe, with an epic version goodnight, as well a more heads down disco dub.
so yeah, links within links, and keeping it northeastern again i guess.

one of our highlights of last year was nebraskas soften the wireless ep, with disco stomper khans bargain, and an amazing tom noble remix. since then, we’ve seen him take on quite a few live shows again, playing at claire during ade, and concrete for our label showcases. hes also managed to find a bit of time to focus on his fresh (new and cool) edit label friends and relations.

brand new glastonbury production duo speakman sound team up with frankie forman for the palliative psychedelic dance stylings of latest single warm. warm follows the breakneck success of debut single in flight which became a top viral track on spotify while being touted by key tastemakers including 6music’s lauren laverne, radio x’s john kennedy, soho radio’s eddie temple morris and radio 1’s huw stephens, monki and phil taggart. the latter commendations led to the brothers being offered a slot on the bbc introducing stage at glastonbury for a ram-packed homecoming. brothers todd and guy, the duo behind speakman sound, spent their childhood in the glastonbury area immersed in music through their father, a guitarist in psych-rock scene including bands such as hawkwind. growing into adolescence against a backdrop of rave culture in somerset shaped the psychedelic tinged future bass sound they create in their studio in north london today. warm is a sonic embrace, a trip into the uterine comforts of music. a rolling kick drum structures it, ostensibly four-on-the-floor, but with syncopated fibrillations, the sound of a heart skipping a beat. with frankie forman’s brilliant, mantra-like vocal and tobie tripp’s sweeping strings, warm reminds us of the comfort we find in music. enveloping in its beauty, it’s the latest majestic entry into speakman sound’s unique and beatific body of work. that the speakman brothers are producers in their own right should come as no surprise. having received a start-up grant for a studio in cricklewood, they have built an artistic hub from scratch and are surrounded by a creative coterie of young musicians and talented artists practicing across film and music in north london where they hold regular late-night jams and parties.

after releasing space control an intergalactic journey into synthesizers, back in 2012, the theremynt duo went on to release a successful, if steady, stream of eps, including robotique de l amou r and vampiros discos (a tribute to brazilian filmmaker ze do caixao). with remixes coming from the likes of david carretta, acid washed and club bizarre, these were playlisted by scene djs such as marvin & guy and ivan smagghe, amongst others. now yann and eva are striking back with their second lp, parallels. it s a record that sees them changing their colour palette and mood, but one that s still haunted by ghosts that lurk within their synthesizers and drum machines. the 10 tracks still exhibit peel s ever shifting vocal style and yann s sophisticated arrangements. but the second lp oscillates between ballad and dancefloor, landing between cosmic disco influences, krautrock and other progressive techno sounds. as a bonus, the album also features a cover of famous 80 s anthem self control. eric maltz is a producer from new york city and now resides in berlin, germany. he is a former employee of halcyon records from its og glory days in it s first location in red hook/carrol gardens areas of brooklyn. -eric provided a sofa to me often through-ought my 20 s and vice-versa, we both cared about music above all else- we lived and breathed music- and we helped each other survive when we were penniless - if one was up, so was the other... eric and i were roommates, friends, we looked out for each other in a rough city with tough rules. every time one of us got a job at a restaurant or record shop, within weeks we would have the other working there too. we did that for a decade. we slang records for years at halcyon- a shop on smith street which had a portrait of stevie wonder painted on the front facade- and we threw parties all around brooklyn back then too.. every shitty bar that would have us lol. we were a dope team. he s the only person who has ever touched the third rail on a subway and survived too! true story. so you know i couldn t wait to release his debut lp. proud of this guy- - levon vincent

exclusive title so what is it exactly that has locked me into this? which one is that magnetic hook? how many grooves are in this? simple questions, but those always lurk on our minds when we are alone with these four bombs on this ep. thousands of noises, peeps, beats, strums do also make us delirious. and think the mind behind this music tries to imagine a world before house and techno, while being actually well informed about those nasty styles. these exceptional works come from jimmy winkles slater, a guy running our favourite radio-show on this side of milky way greta cottage workshop with onlyz world is much happier place now.

jamie paton has been a regular fixture on emotional especial since the label first came to light, conjuring up a seductive blend of leftfield dance music with a broad range of influences. this time around he s turning out some of his remixes, leading in with the sweaty, dense throb of sexy merlins see you in the dark. guy schlaloms habibi by way of contrast becomes a lighter confection peppered with bubbly synth lines and an almost poppy persuasion. blancmanges feel me has a more cosmic lilt in its voluminous tones, and overdrive by gatos negros drifts out on an off-kilter kind of boogie for all manner of deviant dancers to get head-nodding to.

touch sensitive is the moniker of multi-instrumentalist and production wizard michael di francesco. his debut single body stop was one of the first tracks released on future classic, all the way back in 2004. fast-forward to 2013 and his debut ep pizza guy / show me became one of the one of the most internationally beloved releases of 2013, due to the cult status æpizza guyÆ received. since then, touch sensitive has been relentlessly touring and writing, with recent highlights including supporting performances for disclosure, cut copy, flume and flight facilities. now he is back with his infectious, 13 track debut album visions, including the return to spotlight with his eclectic first single lay down, with its blissful melodies and driving keys getting praise and features on tastemaker blogs both nationally and overseas.

dalmata daniel s next up is a collaboration with the bristol-born „weirdo disco guy- antoni maiovvi and also a contribution of heinrich dressel who is an unavoidable column of rome s electronic music scene. maiovvi s pleasure model project is all about youth – replaced by blade runner-esque replicas. his first release under this moniker was „kendo dynamics- on 100% silk in 2016. it aimed for presenting a persuasive world of fiber optic paranoia and technoid effacement. dd006 is the next level of the concept and the first time on vinyl. the tracks are driven by the characteristic haggard drum machine s sound on side a with a melancholic or dark synth themes what becomes a dreamy melody in the „prism riot- on side b. the remix by heinrich dressel is a turn back directly into the darkness, but it is faster and more like a film soundtrack with his own characteristics, of course. the whole ep has a strong vintage mood and sound. it can be said that update 1.1 is definitely dystopian, coming from the future of our past.

hugo capablanca may be best known for his more disco-minded output from his time on gomma records, but increasingly his scattered output and his label have been reaching towards more abrasive material. nothing will prepare you for the confrontational nature of this daring, no label transmission. the artwork alone is enough to challenge the senses, while the opening track is a metallic drone that gives way to the distended mutant beats of top less. guy debord is no less cut throat in delivering a disco punish remix of lap dance on the b side, all deconstructed groove and guttural noise, and then dance less rounds the record off with another excursion into unsettling, heavily processed noise.

for the third and final part of jerome.c, dubfluss - friendship connection we invited julian alexander and guy from downstairs to join our artist roster. a lot of hard work was made into this 3 part lp by our good friends and we hope everyone enjoys it as much as they did producing it. lots of melodic grooves and solid bass lines, proper house music dance tracks on this release. cheers from berlin!

quazarz came to the earth from somewhere else, a musical ambassador from his place to ours. somehow, through fire or through fury, the palaceer of shabazz palaces caught wind of the tale, and it is through his prism that we hear the story. the beach was there, and atlaantiis, and chemical alterations and cell memories and andre norton, richard k. morgan, and always octavia butler. there were killings and there were votes, and brutality in both. there was sound and there were other worlds, and there was a vastness so participation sometimes came only at the edges. and the palaceer coasted down with the alien notion, like quazarz, and so became. on quazarz when they look at this place they see the inhabitants, the humans, but they don’t assess as we do. and so quazarz was sent to meet a cat with vibration, a creative and courageous, caring, compassionate dude that stood out. the dude was a drug dealer, but that was neither here nor there, until his dealings squashed the rendezvous, leaving our alien alone to figure out what this place is really all about. the vinyl release includes a download code.
